Moreover, this type would be used when your shipment is over an LTL but doesn’t fill a full truck. The rate for this shipment is based on the weight and size of the shipment.
Volume Less Than Truckload (VTL) shipping refers to a method of transporting large quantities of goods that do not fill a full truck. Some carriers refer to PTL as VTL.
Less Than Truckload (LTL) shipping refers to a method of transporting goods in which multiple customers share the space of a single truck, and each customer’s shipment takes up less than the total space available on the truck.
In general, TL shipping is best for large shipments that fill an entire truck. While LTL shipping is best for smaller shipments that do not fill an entire truck. PTL and VTL shipping fall in between, offering a cost-effective solution for shipments that are too large for LTL shipping but do not fill an entire truck.
