Craft beer is a traditional beverage with ingredients like malted barley. So, what exactly is the difference between craft beer and “commercial” beer?
At Mo Trucking we know exactly the difference! Craft beer, is in a micro-brewery. A micro-brewery does not produce as many barrels of beer per day as a commercial brewery. Obtain with us the best option in Craft Beer Trucking Connecticut.
So, we know the need to transport this precious liquid in a correct and safe way; taking into account safety and health measures.
There are five different types of freight to consider when shipping craft beer:
Craft Beer Trucking Connecticut
- TL
- LTL
- DRY VAN
- REEFER
- RAIL
TL – TRUCK LOAD
- Load takes up over 16 feet to 53 feet of a trailer and/or up to 44,000 pounds
- Pay for the whole truck
- One truck will deliver load directly from point A to point B
LTL – LESS-THAN-TRUCK LOAD
- Shipment is less than 16 feet, which is approximately 8 to 6 pallets or less
- Transit times are slower than TL
- Price is lower than TL since you only pay for your portion of the trailer
- Load will be in a trailer with multiple shippers
- Load will not ship directly to its destination, but instead will go from terminal hub to terminal hub before reaching the final destination
DRY VAN
- No refrigeration unit
- Majority of dry van trailers are 53 feet long, 102 inches wide, 9 feet tall inside, and can typically haul 43,000 to 44,000 pounds.
- Usually fits approximately 26 standard shipping pallets
- Can be less expensive than a reefer trailer
REEFER
- Ideal for shipping products, including finished beer, that requires temperature control
- Typically 53 feet long, 100 inches wide, and can haul up to 43,000 to 44,000 pounds
- Most are required to carry less weight, because the empty trailer weighs more than a dry van
- This is the most expensive way to ship beer but it’s sometimes the best option
RAIL
- Can be best option for distances over 2000 miles
- Not the most secure option for finished products or or fresh ingredients, such as hops, malt, or fruit, as rail often involves rougher rides with volatile temperatures
- Major lines run coast to coast
