Case Study: How MO Trucking Managed a 12-Trailer Manhattan Trade Show
Event: SDA Lighting Show 2026
Venue: Metropolitan Pavilion, New York City
Event Dates: October 6–7, 2026
Logistics Provider: MO Trucking Inc.
The Challenge
The 2026 SDA Lighting Show required careful coordination of exhibitor freight, trucking equipment, material handling, and building access.
Unlike traditional convention centers with convenient dock-height freight access, the event required an operating plan for unloading equipment and crates at street level and moving freight through the venue’s authorized access points.
Multiple exhibitors needed freight delivered, empty crates removed, and crates returned before move-out.
Once the event ended, outbound freight needed to be removed and organized for return transportation.
The MO Trucking Solution
MO Trucking developed an integrated transportation and material handling plan for the event.
Our team coordinated approximately 12 trailerloads of freight, with service covering advance receiving, freight delivery, equipment, and post-show warehouse operations.
Before the show
- Received incoming freight at our Bay Shore warehouse
- Weighed crates and shipments using our forklift scale
- Organized shipments by exhibitor
- Prepared freight for delivery to Manhattan
- Coordinated trucks, trailers, forklifts, and personnel
- Planned freight delivery around the authorized access schedule
During move-in
- Delivered exhibitor freight using our local fleet
- Provided forklifts and operators
- Coordinated personnel for street-level operations
- Installed Masonite floor protection
- Handled approved crate movements
- Removed empty crates for storage
- Organized freight sequencing to support booth installation
During move-out
- Returned empty exhibit crates
- Assisted with approved outbound freight handling
- Coordinated trailer dispatch and collection
- Transported freight back to our Long Island warehouse
- Organized shipments for exhibitor and carrier pickup
The Results
The project demonstrated MO Trucking’s ability to coordinate trucking, warehouse receiving, equipment, and labor for a complex Manhattan exhibition.
A centralized outbound transportation arrangement allowed freight to return to our Bay Shore facility, where exhibitors could arrange pickup after the event.
The experience also provided valuable operational lessons for future shows, including the importance of crate construction, freight labeling, delivery sequencing, equipment planning, and advance coordination with venue management.
